Brecknock Hall

1 Brecknock Road
Greenport, NY 11944

Built by David Gelston Floyd in the 1850’s, Brecknock Hall was named for his ancestral home of Brecknockshire Wales.    As grandson of William Floyd, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, David Gelston Floyd was from noble heritage. He established a prominent legacy on the North Fork as a shipping magnate, whaling fleet owner, bank president, town supervisor and state legislator.  Brecknock Hall was the Floyd family’s residence and remained in their possession for over 100 years.

Currently owned and operated by Peconic Landing at Southold, Inc., Brecknock Hall was restored by the Brecknock Hall Foundation beginning in 2004.  For over a five year period, dozens of experts in the field of architectural history, historic preservation, building maintenance and construction joined forces to properly restore and preserve this exquisite landmark building.   Today, the building and grounds are used as a resource for weddings, celebrations, community and cultural events as well as educational programs.  It is registered on both the National and New York State Registers of Historic Places.
