For seventy-two years, women fought for the right to vote, many from here on Long Island.  From the wealthy and determined Alva Vanderbilt Belmont to the dynamic Harriot Stanton Blatch, daughter of Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Long Island women worked tirelessly to achieve political equality for themselves and future generations.
